Food Service Manager for Christian Youth Camp

About the role

The Michigan Christian Youth Camp is seeking a dedicated Food Service Manager to lead its food service operations for up to 250 guests across seasonal programs. This full‑time, exempt position blends culinary leadership with a Christ‑centered service philosophy.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, develop, and update menus, accommodating special dietary needs and serving 250+ guests.
• Oversee meal preparation, cooking, and service, ensuring high quality and timely delivery.
• Manage food service budget, control costs, select vendors, and handle purchasing, inventory, and portion control.
• Supervise, schedule, train, and mentor kitchen staff and volunteers, fostering a positive, servant‑hearted team environment.
• Maintain sanitary conditions and compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including equipment maintenance and risk mitigation.
• Conduct monthly food inventory, bi‑annual supply inventory, and coordinate deep cleaning of kitchen facilities.
• Participate in food service conferences to stay current on industry trends.
• Assist with off‑season housekeeping, facility cleaning, painting, and minor repairs as needed.

Required profile

• Minimum age of 21 years.
• Completion of an approved food service management program or at least five years of food service management experience.
• Valid SERVSafe Manager certification or ability to obtain within 90 days.
• Flexible schedule with availability for nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.

Required skills

• SERVSafe Manager certification.
• Proficiency with Google Forms, Sheets, and Docs.
• Competence in Microsoft Office and email platforms.
• Ability to lift at least 25 pounds consistently.
