Food Educator – Part‑Time

About the role

Cooking with Kids is seeking part‑time Food Educators to deliver hands‑on cooking and nutrition lessons in schools across Northern New Mexico. Educators inspire children and families to make healthy food choices through classroom lessons, cafeteria tastings, and community activities.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, schedule and deliver cooking curriculum in coordination with teachers, administrators and cafeteria staff.
• Lead monthly cafeteria tastings using the “Nuevo Thursday” approach to introduce fresh fruits, vegetables and other healthy dishes.
• Support after‑school, family, community and garden‑to‑kitchen activities as needed.
• Maintain food safety, sanitation and risk‑management procedures, including an active Food Handlers certification.

Required profile

• Passion for working with children and promoting healthy nutrition.
• Strong communication skills and ability to build relationships with diverse school communities.
• Organized, dependable and adaptable, able to work independently and within a collaborative team.
• Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation and ability to lift 25‑40 lb boxes.

Required skills

• Basic computer proficiency.
• Food safety and sanitation knowledge (Food Handlers certification).

• Hourly wage of $22 (increasing to $23 after a three‑month probationary period).
