Facilities Specialist III (T3)

About the role

Applied Materials is seeking a Facilities Specialist III (T3) to support the Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) and facilities operations at its Benicia, CA campus. The role combines safety audits, regulatory compliance, and hands‑on maintenance of building systems.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct EHS audits and inspections, checking eye‑wash stations, fire extinguishers and other safety equipment.
• Track OSHA and EPA compliance, manage hazardous waste, and prepare required government reports.
• Promote a safety culture by coaching staff on practical safety practices.
• Perform daily, periodic and special inspections of the facility and coordinate repairs of chillers, air compressors, plumbing, HVAC and other building systems.
• Oversee contractor‑supplied services such as janitorial, landscaping, HVAC servicing and waste removal.

Required profile

• Technical Diploma with 4‑7 years of experience in facilities, EHS or related fields.
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision and act as an informal resource for less‑experienced colleagues.
• Physical ability to stand for long periods, lift, climb ladders and work in noisy or confined spaces.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel for documenting work and tracking system status.

Required skills

• Use and safety of hand and power tools (e.g., power drills, power saws, DVM, ammeter, circuit testers).
• Understanding of basic building electrical, plumbing, and wall structure.
• Knowledge of hazard signage and environmental health and safety procedures.
