Facilities & Maintenance Manager

About the role

We are seeking a Facilities & Maintenance Manager to lead the reliability and continuous improvement of our 100,000‑square‑foot food manufacturing plant in Chicago. You will ensure that the building, equipment, and critical systems operate safely, efficiently, and reliably to support daily production of fresh, high‑quality meals.

Key responsibilities

• Own and execute the preventative maintenance strategy for all production equipment and building systems.
• Lead, coach, and develop the internal maintenance team while managing external contractors and vendors.
• Design and continuously improve maintenance programs, inspection routines, and documentation to minimize downtime.
• Oversee repair and upkeep of refrigeration systems, conveyors, processing equipment, automated assembly lines, and building utilities.
• Partner with Quality Assurance and Food Safety to ensure all maintenance activities meet regulatory requirements.
• Manage the facility maintenance budget, balancing cost efficiency with operational reliability.
• Develop performance metrics and use data‑driven insights for continuous improvement.
• Administer the on‑call program and provide leadership during after‑hours emergencies.
• Collaborate cross‑functionally with Operations, IT, and other teams.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading maintenance teams in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong background in preventative maintenance program development.
• Knowledge of food safety regulations and compliance requirements.
• Experience managing maintenance budgets and capital planning.
• Ability to analyze performance data and drive process improvements.
