Equipment Operator – Dump Truck

About the role

The City of Fort Worth is seeking an Equipment Operator to drive dump trucks and support field operations for water and wastewater infrastructure. This full‑time position involves on‑site work, on‑call rotations, and responding to emergencies.

Key responsibilities

• Safely operate dump trucks and related equipment to load, transport, and unload materials.
• Assist with construction, repair, maintenance, and inspection of water and wastewater piping systems.
• Perform manual labor such as trench digging, pipe laying, and material handling.
• Support field tasks including equipment maintenance, traffic control, and general construction activities.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Valid Texas Class A CDL with an acceptable driving record.
• At least one year of professional experience operating motorized equipment, including dump trucks.
• Ability to obtain a TCEQ Water Distribution Class D or Wastewater Collection I license within 12 months of hire.
• Pass physical examination, drug screen, and background verification.

Required skills

• Class A CDL operation.

• Basic knowledge of water and wastewater system components.

• Pay range $19.74‑$24.67 per hour.
