Engineering Technician VI (HVAC)

About the role

CMT Services, Inc. is seeking an experienced Engineering Technician VI specialized in HVAC to support federal, state, and local government facilities. The role involves maintaining, installing, and repairing complex heating, ventilation, and air‑conditioning systems and their control infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain, install, and repair commercial heating and air‑conditioning systems, controls, and related subsystems.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot air distribution, air balancing, stratification, building insulation, and vapor deficiencies.
• Repair or replace failed sensors, transmitters, and transducers for control systems.
• Repair, retrofit, or install new direct digital control (DDC) hardware and software.
• Adjust boilers, chillers, air handling units, motor controls, and refrigerant systems via interface panels or building automation systems.
• Install and maintain electro‑mechanical relay logic, pneumatic logic controls, damper/valve actuators, and variable frequency drives.
• Perform program maintenance, backups, and database server upkeep for DDC systems.
• Monitor construction projects for compliance with contracts and code requirements.
• Maintain detailed records of work performed, equipment logs, and failure/repair histories.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum 3 years of experience with heating, cooling, and ventilation systems.
• HVAC Journeyman’s License and Section 608 Universal Certification.
• Valid driver’s license.
