Mechanical Engineering Application Intern

About the role

Critical Systems, LLC is looking for a motivated Mechanical Engineering Intern to join its Application Engineering team. The role offers hands‑on experience with mechanical and HVAC systems used in data centers, healthcare facilities, laboratories and other mission‑critical environments.

Key responsibilities

• Assist Application Engineers in selecting and applying mechanical and HVAC equipment, performing calculations, equipment sizing and technical evaluations.
• Review mechanical drawings, specifications and submittals; prepare equipment selections, proposals, schedules and technical documentation.
• Research manufacturers, equipment options and applicable technical requirements.
• Support CAD drawing creation, system layout development and participate in project meetings.

Required profile

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.
• Strong interest in HVAC, building systems and mechanical equipment.
• Basic understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics and heat transfer.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and work both independently and in a team.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word.
• Experience with CAD software for creating system layouts.
• Familiarity with HVAC equipment selection and mechanical calculations.
