Engineering Program Director

About the role

The Engineering Program Director leads the planning, development, and delivery of Engineering Technology programs across West Georgia Technical College campuses. This senior academic position combines curriculum oversight, faculty management, and hands‑on teaching to ensure high‑quality engineering education.

Key responsibilities

• Design, review, and update engineering curricula in line with accreditation standards.
• Deliver a minimum of 20 contact hours per semester through face‑to‑face, hybrid, or lab instruction.
• Advise students, support recruitment, retention, and job placement initiatives.
• Manage program budget, equipment, and supply coordination.
• Supervise adjunct faculty and ensure compliance with college policies.
• Maintain required documentation, reports, and participate in college committees.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in engineering technology (or related discipline) with at least 18 graduate credit hours.
• Three years of professional engineering experience.
• Three years of supervisory or leadership experience.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Preferred: PhD, ten+ years of industry experience, post‑secondary teaching experience, and online teaching background.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
• Experience using Blackboard learning management system.
• Familiarity with Banner, Degree Works, and Task Stream administrative platforms.
• Knowledge of internet and email communication tools.
• Ability to work with a Knowledge Management System (KMS).
