Employment Specialist

About the role

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) seeks an Employment Specialist to help newly arrived refugee clients achieve self‑sufficiency through employment. You will deliver job‑readiness services, provide career coaching, and connect clients with local employers while ensuring compliance with donor and program requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct intake and assessments, develop individualized employment plans for eligible clients.
• Deliver group and one‑on‑one job readiness orientations focused on essential employability skills.
• Build and maintain relationships with area employers to identify suitable job opportunities.
• Match clients to openings, guide them through applications, interviews, and hiring processes.
• Monitor placements, wages, and satisfaction; provide post‑placement support.
• Assist clients with Unemployment Insurance applications and weekly claims when applicable.
• Maintain accurate case notes, data entry, and prepare required documentation such as employment vouchers.
• Participate in program meetings, trainings, and professional development while adhering to IRC policies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, workforce development, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Minimum of 2 years of case management, employment, job placement, or business experience in a social services setting.
• Experience working with vulnerable or underserved populations is strongly preferred.
