About the role
Sandvik is seeking an experienced Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Engineer to lead and support initiatives that protect employees, ensure regulatory compliance, and advance environmental stewardship across its manufacturing operations in Westminster, SC.
Key responsibilities
- Develop, implement, maintain, and continuously improve EHS programs, policies, procedures, and management systems.
- Design and deliver EHS training, employee engagement, and safety awareness programs, including safety committees and behavior‑based safety initiatives.
- Conduct facility inspections, compliance audits, job hazard analyses, and risk assessments to identify and mitigate workplace hazards.
- Lead investigations of incidents, injuries, near misses, and environmental events using root‑cause analysis methodologies.
- Coordinate emergency preparedness and response activities such as evacuation planning, First Aid, HazMat response, and emergency drills.
- Administer key safety programs including respiratory protection, hearing conservation, hazard communication, lockout/tagout, contractor safety, and industrial hygiene monitoring.
- Collaborate with operations, engineering, maintenance, human resources, and site leadership to embed EHS principles into daily activities and projects.
- Monitor and analyze EHS performance metrics and KPIs to drive continuous improvement.
- Manage regulatory reporting, permits, compliance documentation, and communications with OSHA, EPA, and South Carolina agencies.
- Support sustainability initiatives focused on waste reduction, pollution prevention, and resource conservation.
- Provide technical guidance during capital projects, process changes, and new equipment installations to ensure compliance.
- Maintain integrated management systems aligned with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001.
Required profile
- Proven experience as an EHS Engineer in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and South Carolina environmental regulations.
- Experience leading EHS program development, training, and employee engagement.
- Ability to conduct investigations, risk assessments, and root‑cause analyses.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 management systems.
