DOL Services Specialist

About the role

The Georgia Department of Labor is seeking a DOL Services Specialist to join the Rome Career Center. This position supports job seekers by providing counseling, workshops, and connections to local employers, contributing to the agency’s mission of improving employment outcomes for Georgia residents.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct interviews with job, program, or unemployment applicants to gather necessary information.
• Use job listings to assist clients in building relevant skills.
• Develop and deliver workshops on job readiness and modern job‑search techniques.
• Establish and maintain professional relationships with local employers to create job opportunities.
• Evaluate applications to determine eligibility for programs and services.
• Provide career counseling, assessing abilities, interests, and values to match clients with suitable positions.
• Refer clients to additional services such as literacy, transportation, or childcare assistance.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED plus two years of related experience, or an associate’s degree.
• Preferred: undergraduate degree, knowledge of DOL rules/regulations, experience with federally funded reemployment programs, and at least one year of customer‑service experience.
