About the role

The Division of Behavioral Health and Recovery is hiring a Director of Social Work for the Alton Mental Health Center. This senior position leads the Social Work Department serving both forensic and civil patients, ensuring high‑quality clinical services and compliance with state and federal regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Direct and manage all clinical social work functions for hospital patients, including admission and discharge services.
• Provide clinical supervision to professional staff within the Social Work Department.
• Develop, implement, and maintain social service policies, procedures, standards of care, and practices.
• Ensure departmental operations adhere to applicable state and federal laws and statutes.

Required profile

• Licensed Social Worker or Clinical Social Worker with a special license (Skill Option: Special License - Social Worker/Clinical Social Worker).
• Demonstrated experience in managing a social work team in a healthcare or forensic setting.
• Ability to develop and enforce policies, procedures, and standards of care.
• Commitment to equitable access to social and human services.
