Medical Doctor (MD) - Healthcare Advisor

About the role

A qualified medical professional with advanced English is sought to conduct patient screenings and medical assessments by telephone. The role involves calling patients, collecting and reviewing their medical information and preparing accurate clinical documentation to support eligibility decisions for services such as home care, wheelchairs and other medical equipment or assistance.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct telephone screenings with patients in New York State.
• Collect and document medical histories, current illnesses, symptoms, diagnoses, medications, functional limitations and other relevant health information.
• Evaluate patient information according to established guidelines and service requirements.
• Create and maintain organized patient charts and supporting documentation.
• Identify missing or inconsistent information and follow up with patients when necessary.
• Communicate professionally and compassionately with patients, caregivers and internal team members.
• Meet quality, accuracy, productivity and turnaround-time standards.

Required profile

• Medical education, training or professional experience in a healthcare-related role.
• Advanced verbal and written English proficiency.
• Strong understanding of medical terminology, patient history collection and clinical documentation.
• Excellent telephone communication and patient-interviewing skills.
• Ability to manage multiple cases and meet deadlines.
• Preferred: previous screening, intake interview, eligibility evaluation or utilization review experience; experience with home-care services, durable medical equipment or wheelchairs; experience with elderly patients, people with disabilities or caregivers.
