Intern Pharmacist

About the role

Meijer is hiring an Intern Pharmacist in Goshen. The intern provides basic pharmacy knowledge to customers, processes and fills prescriptions, handles third-party functions, manages inventory and delivers clinical services. The selected person will also perform other duties as assigned.

Key responsibilities

• Customer service: communicate with patients in person and by phone, help them choose products and obtain medication prices internally and from competitors.
• Prescription handling: use the pharmacy computer system for data entry and third-party adjudication, pull the right products, count and label prescriptions, receive new prescriptions and sell them at the Will Call station.
• Third-party functions and inventory: update balance on hand, order products, look up Meijer codes, check in and put away orders, and process vendor charge backs, transfers and salvage.
• Clinical services: health screening tests and immunizations after proper training and state-specific authorization, and MTM platforms under a pharmacist's supervision when allowed.

Required profile

• Enrolled in an accredited pharmacy school.
• Pharmacy Intern License (state specific).
• Neat, legible penmanship and professional appearance.
• Understanding of patient confidentiality and of patient care services available at Meijer Pharmacy.

Required skills

• Excellent communication, organizational, prioritization and customer service skills.
• Basic math skills and ability to perform pharmaceutical calculations.
• Knowledge of brand and generic drug names, medical and pharmacy terminology, dosage forms and MP6.
• Knowledge of third-party billing, health screening tests, immunizations and MTM platforms.
