Director of Academic Advisement and Student Retention

About the role

The Director of Academic Advisement and Student Retention provides strategic leadership for advising and persistence efforts across Lanier Technical College’s multi‑campus service area. Reporting to the Vice President for Academic Affairs, this full‑time, exempt position drives measurable improvements in student success.

Key responsibilities

• Lead advising operations across all campuses, set performance expectations, manage budget and resources, and ensure consistent service standards.
• Analyze retention and enrollment data, develop evidence‑based interventions, and oversee proactive outreach using early‑alert and predictive systems.
• Collaborate with Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, faculty and staff to create a comprehensive, student‑centered support system.
• Report on advising effectiveness, retention metrics, and progress toward institutional goals.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in an educational discipline or related field.
• At least three years of post‑secondary experience focused on academic advising and student retention.
• Demonstrated supervisory experience and ability to travel between campuses.

Required skills

• Experience with degree audit systems.
• Familiarity with Knowledge Management Systems or similar platforms.
• Proficiency in using advising technologies and data analysis tools.

What we offer

• Salary range $75,000‑$77,000 annually, based on education and experience.
