Director Legal - Hospital & Health Systems

About the role

The Director Legal provides counsel to operational and clinical leadership across the Lehigh Valley Health Network, guiding legal and regulatory matters that affect healthcare delivery, hospital operations, and physician practice.

Key responsibilities

• Advise hospitals, medical groups, and affiliated entities on federal and state healthcare laws, accreditation standards, and industry regulations.
• Draft, review, and negotiate contracts with providers, vendors, and service partners, ensuring compliance with fraud‑and‑abuse, privacy, and self‑referral rules.
• Collaborate with Compliance, Risk Management, Internal Audit, and Regulatory teams to identify and mitigate legal risks.
• Support physician group operations, including practice expansion, contracting, and integration initiatives.
• Provide guidance to Medical Staff leadership on bylaws, credentialing, privileging, peer review, and governance matters.

Required profile

• Juris Doctor from an ABA‑accredited law school.
• At least 5 years of relevant legal experience, preferably in a hospital or health‑system environment.
• Licensed attorney in the State of Pennsylvania.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and ability to work in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven setting.
