Design Engineer Supervisory

About the role

The Design Engineer Supervisory leads teams that manage large capital projects for the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority across design and construction phases at Dulles and Reagan airports.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise project managers and administrators delivering Capital Construction Program, COMIP, CIP, and R&R projects.
• Allocate resources, enforce design reviews, and ensure compliance with design manuals and sustainability criteria.
• Coordinate with airport operations, airlines, tenants, and other stakeholders to minimize operational impacts.
• Support construction managers, monitor financial and schedule status, and present updates to senior leadership.
• Serve as Contracting Officer's Technical Representative and secondary manager for the Design Department.

Required profile

• Eight years of progressive design management experience in building or civil engineering.
• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related field (master’s may substitute two years).
• Knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulations and public contracting processes.
• Experience supervising design staff and acting as owner’s representative during design and construction.
• Licensure as an Architect or Professional Engineer and a valid driver’s license.
