Dental Assistant 2 – Mobile Dental Practice

About the role

The Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities is seeking a compassionate Dental Assistant 2 to support chair‑side dentistry in a mobile clinic serving adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Based at East Central Regional Hospital – Gracewood Campus in Augusta, the position involves daily travel across 26 rural counties.

Key responsibilities

• Provide chair‑side assistance during examinations, preventive, restorative, and surgical procedures.
• Prepare, transfer, and anticipate instruments and materials needed for clinical care.
• Maintain a clear operating field using suction wands, air‑water syringes, and cotton rolls.
• Perform infection‑control and sterilization procedures in compliance with clinical standards.
• Support operational logistics of the mobile dental unit, including daily travel and setup at rural sites.
• Assist at the Gracewood campus clinic as needed.
• Uphold rigorous clinical standards and promote health equity for underserved populations.

Required profile

• Compassionate and skilled dental assistant with experience in chair‑side support.
• Ability to work with adults who have intellectual and developmental disabilities.
