DC Metal Detector Attendant

About the role

O'Reilly Auto Parts is hiring a DC Metal Detector Attendant for its Stockton distribution center. The role ensures compliance with company loss prevention policies by monitoring entry and exit of all persons and performing other loss prevention duties assigned by the maintenance supervisor.

Key responsibilities

• Administer the company metal detector operation policies as described in procedure 621 Metal Detector Operation.
• Monitor the metal detector during all shift changes, lunch and break periods so that procedures are followed by all team members.
• Enforce metal detector procedures for all visitors entering the distribution center.
• Calibrate the metal detector as described in procedure 620 Metal Detector Calibration Process.
• Watch all activities within sight of the entry and exit station to increase the perception of risk related to theft, and report unusual activity to the maintenance supervisor or another management team member.
• Maintain safety standards while operating the device and identify unsafe practices and situations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Ability to deal diplomatically with people under somewhat stressful circumstances.
• Ability to take an authoritative role in dealing with team member theft or loss prevention issues.
• Must work well in a team environment.
• Cannot be related to another team member employed at the same DC.
• Desired: high school diploma or equivalent (GED).
• Desired: previous experience as a security guard, law enforcement officer, military personnel or metal detector operator.
• Desired: fluency in multiple languages (Spanish highly desired).
