Communication Specialist I

About the role

The Communications Specialist I will manage and execute communications for GEICO’s corporate initiatives. You will create and implement communication strategies, support executive messaging, develop team updates, and craft sales enablement tools and training materials.

Key responsibilities

• Research, write, and disseminate information about major initiatives.
• Complete recurring, complex, company‑wide projects and ad‑hoc requests.
• Maintain and expand a network of contacts on assigned beats.
• Generate story ideas for associate communications and conduct interviews via phone or email.
• Take photographs or obtain artwork to illustrate articles.
• Produce associate‑communications vehicles (e.g., Plaza Weekly, event invitations, ICYMI).
• Gather data, write copy, ensure high‑quality output, and meet production deadlines.
• Adhere to GEICO’s Code of Conduct, policies, and attendance standards.

Required profile

• Ability to see, hear, type, and speak with or without accommodation.
• Capable of working independently and within a team.
• Strong multitasking and learning abilities for technical and procedural information.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Bachelor’s degree (preferred focus: English, journalism, communications, public relations, or related field).
• Willingness to travel up to 10% for events and meetings.
