Civil/Structural Designer - Oil and Gas

About the role

Atwell, a consulting, engineering and construction firm serving real estate, land development and energy markets, is seeking a Structural Designer with experience in the oil and gas industry. Projects cover oil and natural gas, CO2, hydrogen and renewable natural gas pipelines and related facilities. The designer executes and coordinates structural design from concept through construction documentation, ensuring adherence to quality standards, client specifications and industry codes.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret and implement structural design input from the Lead Structural Engineer for pipelines, compressor stations, terminals and processing plants
• Develop detailed construction documents, including structural plans, sections and connection details for steel and concrete structures
• Design ductwork layouts, coordinating routing, supports, equipment connections and clearances with structural, mechanical, piping and other disciplines
• Revise drawings based on redlines and coordinate affected sheets and disciplines
• Visit sites periodically to verify conditions, measure framing and ductwork and support as-built documentation
• Manage multiple projects concurrently and meet deadlines

Required profile

• Associate's degree in Mechanical or Structural Drafting & Design Technology or a related field (preferred)
• Strong understanding of construction drawings and structural plan sets for oil and gas facilities
• Minimum of 3 years of experience using AutoCAD and/or CADWorx for industrial structural or piping design
• Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities

Required skills

• Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor (versions 2021, 2022 or 2023) is required
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Detail-oriented, organized and analytical, willing to learn in a collaborative team
