Civil & Municipal Engineer

About the role

Artheon is looking for a civil and municipal engineer to join its Barnegat, NJ office. This position is ideal for professionals with 2–5 years of experience who want to work on public‑sector infrastructure projects and grow toward professional licensure.

Key responsibilities

• Review site plans, subdivision applications, and capital improvement projects for compliance with municipal ordinances and engineering standards.
• Prepare technical review letters, engineering reports, and recommendations for municipal clients and internal teams.
• Design municipal infrastructure improvements, including roadway, drainage, utility, and stormwater projects, and develop plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
• Support construction‑phase services such as submittal review, RFIs, field observations, and contractor coordination, ensuring work aligns with approved designs.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• 2–5 years of relevant civil, municipal, or site/infrastructure engineering experience.
• Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) certification and progress toward PE licensure within 6–12 months.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with comfort participating in public meetings.
• Ability to manage multiple assignments and work collaboratively in a client‑service environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D or similar engineering software.
• Engineering calculations for grading, drainage, stormwater management, utility systems, and roadway design.
• Knowledge of NJDEP, NJDOT, and local municipal standards and permitting processes.
