Certified Pharmacy Technician – Inpatient Pharmacy

About the role

The Certified Pharmacy Technician will support the OLGMC Inpatient Pharmacy by delivering medications, maintaining dispensing equipment, and ensuring accurate order processing under close supervision. This position is essential to safe, timely patient care in a hospital setting.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver medications to designated areas following detailed instructions, policies, and procedures.
• Refill and maintain automated dispensing machines, price manual orders, and manage inventory.
• Enter physician orders into the pharmacy order entry system, verify accuracy, and resolve discrepancies with pharmacists or nursing staff.
• Compound IV admixtures and other preparations using aseptic technique.
• Perform clerical duties such as typing, answering phones, filing, and greeting staff at the pharmacy window.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of a para‑professional pharmacy training program, a college year, or Certified Pharmacy Technician licensure/National Certification.
• Preferred: 1 year of hospital pharmacy experience.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Windows‑style applications and data‑entry systems.
• Ability to operate standard pharmacy and office equipment, including automated dispensing machines.
• Effective verbal and written communication for interacting with clinicians and patients.
• Manual dexterity and ability to perform aseptic IV compounding.
