Associate, Material Handler (2nd Shift)

About the role

Champion Foods, a pizza producer, is looking for an Associate, Material Handler (2nd Shift) at its 144,000-square-foot bakery in Gaffney, South Carolina. The role involves monitoring production-line inventory, loading outgoing shipments and operating powered industrial vehicles in a fast-paced environment.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor production line inventory and replenish materials strategically in a fast-paced environment
• Load outgoing shipments according to policy and document inventory movements, expiration dates and lot/serial numbers with handheld scanners
• Transfer goods to designated locations with proper documentation and authorization
• Operate powered industrial vehicles and assist in plant operations in line with food safety, quality and regulatory requirements
• Pick and stage customer orders, and transfer finished goods to storage
• Maintain FIFO inventory control and follow GMP, HACCP, FDA, OSHA, USDA and BRC standards
• Clean and maintain warehouse areas and equipment, and take part in physical inventory counts

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent
• One year of experience operating material handling equipment and a handheld scanner in a manufacturing environment, or six months of manufacturing experience plus fork truck safety and operation training
• Ability to repeatedly lift, push, pull or reach overhead heavy objects up to 60 pounds
• Ability to stand, judge distances over 20 feet and operate a fork truck for an 8-hour shift
• Ability to read, write and count to fill orders and run accurate inventory

Required skills

• Experienced operator of material handling equipment (forklift, pallet jack)
• Preferred: one year of experience with a handheld scanner for inventory records
