Associate Director, Supply Chain Data Science

About the role

The Global Supply Chain Digital Team at Amgen is looking for an Associate Director of Data Science to lead advanced analytics, AI/ML, GenAI and digital solutions that transform Global Supply Chain operations and ensure reliable delivery of medicines worldwide. The role is based at the Thousand Oaks headquarters or remotely, and also involves establishing and scaling an India-based digital capability team.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deploy AI, GenAI, agentic and advanced analytics solutions across end-to-end supply chain operations.
• Lead scalable digital products, analytical applications and automation on large, complex datasets.
• Help set up the India-based digital team, including organizational design, operating model, governance and delivery processes, then provide ongoing leadership.
• Lead global teams of data scientists and digital developers across onshore and offshore locations.
• Partner with Supply Chain, Operations, Finance, IT and Digital Technology teams to build scalable analytics that improve forecasting, planning, inventory optimization and productivity.
• Develop visualizations and executive insights, and lead productivity analytics with KPIs and performance metrics.
• Mentor digital/data science staff and foster innovation and collaboration.

Required profile

• Doctorate with 3 years, Master's with 5 years, Bachelor's with 7 years, Associate's with 12 years, or high school diploma with 14 years of engineering, computer science, operations, analytics, data science or related scientific experience.
• Preferred: experience in manufacturing, operations or supply chain, and in matrixed, global organizations; ability to influence technical and business teams.

Required skills

• Strong expertise in AI/ML, GenAI, advanced analytics and digital product development.
• Python and SQL proficiency.
• Experience with large datasets, modern data architecture and Agile delivery.
• Data visualization tools such as Spotfire and Matplotlib.
• People leadership, experience building global or offshore technical teams, and stakeholder management.
