Assistant Women's Basketball Coach (Adjunct Faculty)

About the role

This part‑time adjunct faculty position supports the Head Men’s Basketball Coach in developing the women’s basketball program at a Georgia State institution. The role involves coaching, recruitment, and administrative duties in line with NJCAA/GCAA guidelines.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Head Coach in coaching student‑athletes according to NJCAA/GCAA regulations.
• Support recruitment activities and outreach to prospective athletes.
• Conduct individual and small‑group practice sessions as assigned.
• Provide performance feedback and identify areas for improvement.
• Help develop and adjust game strategy.
• Supervise athletes during practices, competitions, and team activities.
• Teach injury‑prevention techniques and follow safety procedures.
• Assist with team scheduling, travel coordination, and transportation to away games.
• Maintain eligibility forms, emergency cards, and required documentation.
• Distribute and collect equipment, uniforms, and supplies; secure inventory.
• Monitor academic progress and communicate updates to stakeholders.
• Support discipline and conduct expectations to uphold program reputation.
• Assist with facility scheduling and coordination of competitive play.
• Perform additional duties as assigned to support departmental goals.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field OR two years of coaching experience with documented program‑specific skills.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and work in a physically demanding environment.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Capacity to make decisions under pressure and maintain effective working relationships.
