Assistant Site Director – Brighton

About the role

The YMCA seeks an Assistant Site Director to support daily after‑school operations at the Oak Square YMCA in Brighton. Reporting to the Site Director, you will help plan and lead activities that combine learning, play, sports, and swimming while ensuring a safe, nurturing environment for children.

Key responsibilities

• Emphasize student safety and emotional well‑being; act as a positive role model.
• Plan and implement recreational and educational programs that encourage group participation and choice.
• Manage daily attendance records, handle absence calls, and track program participation.
• Provide behavior guidance, support staff, and ensure consistent positive discipline.
• Assist with daily activity planning, special events, and Family Night programming.
• Maintain program areas, equipment, and supplies, and report accidents or incidents promptly.

Required profile

• At least 18 years old with a passion for working with children.
• High school diploma or equivalent; college degree or pursuit preferred.
• Experience in youth programs, camps, or related settings.
• Current First Aid, CPR, and Oxygen certifications (or willingness to complete YMCA training).
• Availability up to 40 hours per week, Monday‑Friday, 10 am‑6 pm.

Required skills

• Ability to lead and participate in physical group games and outdoor activities.
• Comfort with water activities during swim periods.
• Strong communication and cultural sensitivity.
