Assistant Professor - Precision Ranching

About the role

The Texas A&M AgriLife Research seeks an innovative scientist to serve as an Assistant Professor in Precision Ranching, focusing on advancing productivity, profitability, and sustainability of rangeland systems through precision technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain an externally funded, nationally recognized research program addressing critical challenges in Texas rangeland and livestock industries.
• Conduct fundamental, applied, and translational research on precision ranching technologies, including smart sensing, automation, AI, and advanced analytics.
• Publish research findings in high‑impact peer‑reviewed journals and mentor graduate students and research personnel.
• Secure competitive extramural funding from federal, state, industry, and private sources.
• Collaborate with AgriLife Research, Extension, industry partners, government agencies, and nonprofit organizations to translate research into practical applications.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in Rangeland Science, Biological and Agricultural Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
• Expertise in rangeland production systems and management practices.
• Demonstrated experience with precision agriculture technologies and a record of publishing original research.
• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
