Environment Safety Specialist

About the role

Amentum is hiring an Environment Safety Specialist to perform general environmental and/or safety support services, investigations and analyses. The specialist acts as lead investigator or project manager on primary ES&H projects. The schedule is Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, with occasional extended hours and weekend work as needed.

Key responsibilities

• Direct the activities of other ES&H professionals in analytical and scientific investigations related to ecology or environmental science.
• Review literature in the fields of environment, safety and related areas and decide on the adequacy and merit of ongoing investigations.
• Design or select methods for analysing unique or complex data from ES&H investigations and literature, and perform or direct those analyses.
• Certify compliance with applicable environmental regulations and protocols.
• Maintain a working knowledge of statutory environmental, safety and health requirements.
• Decide on methodology for complex tasks whose failure could pose high environmental or socioeconomic risk.

Required profile

• At least seven years of experience in occupational safety and health, fire protection engineering, or environmental compliance and restoration management.
• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Fire Protection Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Health Physics, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science or a related discipline.
• Ability to pass and maintain a security clearance; position may require travel.
• Preferred: ability to obtain Safety Trained Supervisor (STS) certification within 12 months of employment.
