Assistant Professor of Clinical – Anesthesiology, Pain Management

About the role

The Department of Anesthesiology, Perioperative Medicine, and Pain Management at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine is expanding and seeks an Assistant Professor of Clinical to join its Pain Medicine faculty. This full‑time academic position involves clinical care, teaching, and scholarly activities in an outpatient setting.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate and treat patients with acute and chronic pain, including cancer‑related, spine, neuropathic, and musculoskeletal pain.
• Perform fluoroscopic‑guided and ultrasound‑guided spine and peripheral procedures such as joint injections, radiofrequency ablations, peripheral nerve blocks, and implantation of devices (spinal cord stimulators, intrathecal delivery systems).
• Supervise residents, Pain Medicine fellows, and ARNPs while providing independent patient care as needed.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including neurosurgery, orthopedics, oncology, physical therapy, and behavioral health.
• Participate in departmental academic activities, teaching, mentoring, conferences, committees, and faculty meetings.

Required profile

• Completion of an ACGME‑accredited residency in Anesthesiology.
• Completion of an ACGME‑accredited fellowship in Pain Medicine.
• Board eligibility or certification in Anesthesiology and an added qualification in Pain Medicine (equivalence may be considered case‑by‑case).
• Strong communication skills and ability to work within a multidisciplinary environment.
