About the role
The Louisiana State University School of Music seeks a tenure‑track Assistant Professor of Clarinet to begin in fall 2027. The position is designed for an artist‑performer and teacher who can attract a large studio of students and contribute to a collaborative, vibrant school culture.
Key responsibilities
- Teach applied clarinet at all levels, woodwind courses, and coach chamber music; advise graduate students and recruit promising musicians.
- Develop and maintain a national and international research and creative profile as a performer and teacher; participate in faculty chamber music activities.
- Provide service to the school, engage in faculty governance, and perform other duties as assigned.
Required profile
- Doctorate in clarinet performance (or equivalent professional experience).
- Distinguished record as an active performer and demonstrated excellence in teaching a broad range of students.
- Commitment to contributing to the culture of the School of Music and, preferably, an additional area of expertise that extends influence.
