Assistant Director of Academic Affairs – Center for Security Studies

About the role

The Assistant Director of Academic Affairs works alongside the Director to provide advising, registration, and academic support for graduate students in the Center for Security Studies. This role helps manage academic records and serves as a primary contact for the GU Experience, fostering a supportive environment that guides students toward successful graduation.

Key responsibilities

• Provide student advising, registration assistance, and academic support for 150‑200 graduate students.
• Maintain accurate academic records and ensure compliance with university policies.
• Act as a primary point of contact for the GU Experience at the Security Studies Program.
• Collaborate with faculty and staff to create a structured, supportive environment that promotes student success.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree and 2‑3 years of experience in academic advising or a closely related field.
• Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills with a strong commitment to customer service.
• Intercultural communication abilities and experience working with diverse student populations are highly desirable.
