ASN Instructor – Medical Surgical Specialty

About the role

Georgia Piedmont Technical College is seeking a dynamic full-time ASN Instructor to teach Practical Nursing and Associate of Science in Nursing programs at its Newton County campus in Covington. Reporting to the Dean of Allied Health, the instructor will deliver classroom, laboratory and clinical instruction, develop curriculum, and ensure student competency across a range of nursing specialties.

Key responsibilities

• Provide classroom, lab and clinical instruction in OB, Pediatrics, Emergency and Trauma nursing.
• Develop and revise syllabi, curriculum materials and assessments in line with accreditation standards.
• Maintain accurate records of student performance, attendance and evaluations.
• Advise and mentor students throughout their academic journey.
• Participate in program accreditation, evaluation and continuous improvement activities.
• Coordinate with clinical affiliates, select practicum sites, orient on-site supervisors and oversee practicum experiences.
• Teach at additional sites or community locations as needed.

Required profile

• Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from a regionally accredited institution.
• Current Georgia RN license.
• Minimum three years of acute care clinical experience (OB, Pediatrics, Med‑Surg, Emergency or Trauma).
• Strong understanding of human pathophysiology.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications.
• At least three years of recent full-time experience in medical assisting, nursing education or a related healthcare field.

Required skills

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Clinical expertise in OB, Pediatrics, Medical‑Surgical, Emergency and Trauma nursing.
• Curriculum development and student assessment.
