About the role

The Animal Welfare Specialist 3 is a full‑time position located at Coral World Ocean Park in St Thomas, US Virgin Islands. You will be responsible for the daily care, monitoring, and enrichment of the park’s dolphin population, ensuring the highest standards of welfare, nutrition, and training. The role also includes guest education and participation in interactive animal experiences.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct behavioral observations and document health and behavior records for all dolphins.
• Lead and assist in training sessions, applying positive reinforcement techniques.
• Maintain enclosures, life‑support systems, and prepare balanced diets.
• Collaborate regularly with veterinarians and park management on animal health and welfare.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant animal welfare and safety regulations.
• Support guest education by answering questions, delivering presentations, and assisting with interactive experiences.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in psychology, biology, or a related scientific discipline, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum five years of paid full‑time animal training experience.
• Legal ability to work in the United States (no visa sponsorship).
• Ability to pass an annual on‑site swimming and physical conditioning test.
• Open Water SCUBA certification or ability to obtain it within six months.
• Current CPR/First Aid certification.
• Strong communication skills, team‑oriented attitude, and ability to work independently.
