Analytical Engineer II - CAE Simulation

About the role

Analytical Engineer II is based in Anderson and supports the Advanced Engineering team in developing new-to-market products and technologies. The role centers on CAE simulations such as CFD and FEA, covering axial and centrifugal fan design, internal flow paths, and structural integrity and durability. It requires on-site work at least three days per week.

Key responsibilities

• Support new product development through CAE simulations, including CFD and FEA, for axial and centrifugal fans, internal flow paths and structural integrity.
• Research and develop new products and technologies with the Advanced Engineering team.
• Develop multi-physics simulation techniques, including conjugate heat transfer, spray atomization and aeroacoustics.
• Run optimization and sensitivity analyses using design of experiments (DOE) and meta-modeling.
• Serve as subject matter expert in CFD, including RANS and scale-resolving models.
• Develop reduced-order plant models to predict mechanical and thermal performance using MATLAB, Simscape, Python or similar tools.
• Perform measurements of sound, vibration, fan performance, vacuum performance and pressure loss coefficients.
• Stay current with field developments and recommend improvements to product quality and effectiveness.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace engineering or a related field, with 6+ years of relevant professional experience.
• Experience with FEA or CFD simulation, including RANS and scale-resolving methods, multiphysics simulations (CHT, DPM, aeroacoustics, multi-phase flow) and system modeling.
• Laboratory testing and data acquisition experience (sound, vibration, temperature, pressure, flow rate, torque, power).

Required skills

• CAD modeling proficiency (NX, SolidWorks or other commercial software)
• Computational language proficiency (MATLAB, Simscape, Simulink, Python, Fortran, C++, C or VB)
