Aircraft Certification Engineer – Aerodynamics

About the role

AVTECH Global seeks an experienced Aircraft Certification Engineer specializing in aerodynamics to support the airworthiness certification of a military commercial derivative aircraft (MCDA). You will act as the technical authority bridging FAA Part 25 requirements with MIL‑HDBK‑516C standards.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and validate aerodynamic models, defining stability and control characteristics.
• Create, review, and execute certification plans for MCDA programs, ensuring compliance with FAA and military standards.
• Coordinate with military airworthiness authorities, DER/DAR representatives, and prime contractors to obtain approvals.
• Identify and resolve gaps between civil and military certification requirements.
• Mentor junior engineers and improve internal certification processes and tools.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in aerospace, mechanical engineering, or related field.
• 15+ years of aircraft certification experience, including FAA type certification or STC programs.
• Prior work on military commercial derivative aircraft programs preferred.
• Ability to pass a Tier 1 DoD investigation; existing security clearance preferred.
• FAA Designated Engineering Representative (DER) authorization in at least one discipline.

Required skills

• Aerodynamic model development and stability/control analysis.
• In‑depth knowledge of 14 CFR Part 25 and MIL‑HDBK‑516C airworthiness standards.
• Creation of certification documents such as ICAs, ground/flight test plans, compliance checklists, and project‑specific certification plans.
• Program management and coordination with DER/DAR representatives.
