AI Engineer – New York City

About the role

Starbridge is seeking an AI Engineer to design, build, and scale AI‑powered features for its public‑sector intelligence platform. You will work on LLM‑driven capabilities that help customers access, understand, and act on complex government data.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with engineering and product teams to productize new AI capabilities such as AI‑generated proposal writing and advanced search experiences.
• Evaluate, test, and monitor the performance of large language models from providers like OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, and Parallel.ai.
• Stay current with AI research and proactively suggest improvements to generative AI components.
• Implement robust testing and CI/CD pipelines to ensure reliable AI system deployments.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of professional software engineering and AI/ML development experience.
• Proven impact in a startup or small‑company environment.
• Strong product thinking and ability to translate product requirements into LLM‑based solutions.
• Excellent communication of complex technical concepts.

Required skills

• Python programming
• ML lifecycle tools: MLflow, DVC, Weights & Biases
• Experience with cloud deployment of ML systems
• Hands‑on work with LLMs (OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, Parallel.ai)
• Frameworks for scalable LLM applications: LangGraph, LiteLLM, Agent Client Protocol
• CI/CD and automated testing practices
