Adjunct Instructor – Adult Education ESL (Evenings)

About the role

The State of Georgia is seeking an Adjunct Instructor to teach adult learners English as a Second Language during evening classes. This part‑time position supports the adult education program in the Griffin service area and provides a structured learning environment for non‑native speakers.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver classroom instruction for ESL evening courses and evaluate student progress toward language goals.
• Develop and maintain student education plans, lesson plans, and instructional materials.
• Provide learner guidance, monitor performance, and record accurate progress reports.
• Promote the adult education program to community organizations and participate in outreach activities.
• Assist with recruitment, retention, and job placement efforts for adult learners.
• Prepare required documentation, administrative reports, and participate in staff development meetings.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university (minimum).
• Preferred: Master’s degree in education or a related field.
• Strong oral and written communication abilities.
• Interpersonal skills and the ability to adapt instructional material to diverse learning styles.
• Knowledge of effective instructional methods for adult learners and community needs within the service area.

Required skills

• Proficiency with computers and standard office software.

What we offer

• Hourly compensation of $22.00 (commensurate with education and experience).
• Part‑time schedule: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 5:30 pm – 8:30 pm, with additional planning time on site.
• Up to 19 work hours per week; no insurance benefits.
• Background investigation and Selective Service registration required.
