Accounting Technician – Full‑Time

About the role

The State of Georgia is seeking an Accounting Technician to join the Southern Crescent Technical College Griffin campus. This full‑time position supports student financial services by handling cash receipts, billing, and general accounting tasks.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and process cash, checks, and money orders from students for tuition and fees.
• Balance receipts, post to accounting records, and prepare bank deposits.
• Obtain billing information from external agencies and perform billing functions.
• Prepare and mail account statements and other routine correspondence.
• Maintain billing files, assist with new student registration sessions, and perform clerical duties such as typing and answering phones.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent plus at least one year of bookkeeping or accounting clerical experience.
• Preferred associate’s degree in accounting or a related business field.
• Ability to work effectively within the organizational structure and demonstrate trustworthiness.

Required skills

• Experience with BANNER – Accounts Receivable system.
• Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and student account management practices.
• Proficiency with computers and job‑related software programs.
