Senior Accountant – Financial Reporting

About the role

The Senior Accountant supports the University of Miami by maintaining accurate financial records, preparing complex financial statements, and ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP. This full‑time position works closely with internal teams and external auditors.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other financial reports in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
• Manage month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end closing processes, including reviewing transactions and meeting deadlines.
• Research and analyze complex accounting transactions such as entity consolidations and debt instruments.
• Assist the Accounting Manager with audit work papers, audit schedules, and development of financial reporting procedures.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field.
• Minimum 4 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably 5‑7 years with financial reporting exposure.
• Strong written and oral communication skills and ability to handle confidential information.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word.
• In‑depth knowledge of U.S. GAAP.
• Experience preparing financial statements and regulatory reports.
