About the role

Lilly’s 2027 Summer Doctoral Internship offers Ph.D. or PharmD students the chance to work on cutting‑edge drug discovery and development projects at our Indianapolis headquarters. Interns will gain hands‑on experience with AI tools, laboratory techniques, and interdisciplinary research.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in AI/ML‑assisted research and analytical development projects.
• Conduct bioassay development, biological testing of compounds, and molecular biology experiments.
• Synthesize organic and peptide compounds, perform flow chemistry, and support drug product design.
• Utilize computational biology and chemistry tools for data analysis and modeling.

Required profile

• Enrolled in a Ph.D. or PharmD program in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Required skills

• Experience with AI/ML tools and generative AI platforms.
• Laboratory techniques such as bioassay development, organic/peptide synthesis, flow chemistry, protein expression, purification, and formulation.
• Computational biology, computational chemistry, and analytical method development.
