About the role
The University of Miami Health System (UHealth) IT Department is seeking a full‑time Systems Administrator to work onsite in Miami, Florida. The role is responsible for maintaining the reliability, performance and security of the organization’s Windows‑based infrastructure and supporting critical public‑safety applications.
Key responsibilities
- Monitor system logs and server activity, responding to alerts and incidents.
- Replace defective hardware on client machines and servers.
- Install, maintain and update project‑ and task‑tracking tools.
- Manage Windows account creation, changes, removals and ensure data integrity on file servers.
- Configure and enforce Windows security features to protect confidential information.
- Research, test and deploy software updates and patches across operating systems.
- Evaluate new technologies and provide recommendations for major hardware and software purchases.
- Maintain accurate software and hardware inventory documentation.
- Provide training on Windows systems to staff and consultants.
- Develop, support and maintain Windows file and print servers.
- Deliver scripting and programming support for enterprise projects.
- Create and uphold service level agreements with user departments.
- Prepare and monitor budgets for assigned functional areas.
- Manage over 20 security‑department production servers and public‑safety workstations, including peripherals such as badge printers and scanners.
Required profile
- Proven experience administering Windows server environments.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for both hardware and software issues.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with other IT teams.
- Attention to detail in documentation, inventory and budgeting.
- Commitment to follow university policies and safeguard assets.
