Senior Desktop Support Technician

About the role

The University of Miami’s UMIT Department is seeking a full‑time Senior Desktop Support Technician for its Medical Campus in Miami, FL. You will provide technical advice and hands‑on support to faculty, staff, and students, ensuring reliable desktop and peripheral operations.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the first point of contact for desktop and network issues, organizing and prioritising support requests.
• Install, configure, test and certify desktop computers, peripheral equipment and required software drivers.
• Perform basic troubleshooting, preventive maintenance and hardware moves, including decommissioning of replaced devices.
• Manage help‑desk tickets from creation to closure, documenting all actions taken.
• Lead team efforts for system backups, archiving and disaster‑recovery procedures.
• Maintain hardware standards, inventory, and full lifecycle of technology assets.
• Develop and update documentation for technology services and assist with special projects.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant desktop support experience.
• Experience providing in‑person and hybrid AV support in an educational or medical environment.
