Per Diem Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA)

About the role

Amedisys, part of the Optum family of businesses, offers home health, hospice and community-based care. As a per diem Physical Therapist Assistant, you will work under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist to provide skilled care in patients' homes, carrying out individualized treatment plans that improve mobility, strength, balance and independence while promoting safety.

Key responsibilities

• Provide physical therapy services and interventions under the direction and supervision of a physical therapist, in line with the physician-approved plan of care
• Observe, record and report the patient's response to treatment and changes in condition to the supervising PT, physician and other clinical staff
• Monitor and document the patient's response to physical therapy intervention
• Include documentation of supervisory activities in the patient's medical record
• Take part in patient care conferences, chart audits, quality improvement activities (including OBQI and OBQM) and peer review
• Make recommendations for follow-up care and coordinate referrals to community resources
• Maintain confidentiality of patient information and perform other duties as assigned

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited physical therapy assistant program (CAPTE)
• Current license to practice as a PTA in the state of assignment
• Current CPR certification
• One year of related physical therapy experience; less than one year requires approval from regional clinical leaders and mentoring or a residency program

What we offer

• Pay of $30.24-$45.36 per visit point and $25.20-$37.80 hourly, with a total cash target of $52,417-$78,625 for full-time equivalent work
