Patrol Lieutenant

About the role

The University of Tulsa seeks a Patrol Lieutenant to lead its campus security team. This senior position oversees daily operations, ensures compliance with university policies, and responds to incidents across multiple campus locations.

Key responsibilities

• Direct supervision of assigned security personnel, including performance evaluations, uniform and equipment inspections, and discipline administration.
• Manage operational duties such as incident reporting, work order issuance, equipment tracking, and coordination of security plans for special events.
• Serve as the primary decision‑maker during incidents when senior officers are unavailable and provide testimony in conduct hearings and legal proceedings.

Required profile

• Minimum two years in a law‑enforcement or security‑management role with patrol oversight.
• Bachelor’s degree in law enforcement, criminal justice, security management, or related field (preferred).
• Current CLEET Phases 1‑4 certification and compliance with Oklahoma Security Guard and Private Investigator Act.
• Physical fitness and firearms qualification meeting university standards.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.
• Ability to lead teams, de‑escalate dangerous situations, and handle confidential information.
