ODOT Prequalified Coatings Inspector – Ohio

About the role

True Inspection Services, LLC, a subsidiary of The Mannik and Smith Group, is seeking experienced ODOT‑prequalified Coatings Inspectors to support bridge and infrastructure projects across Ohio. The role involves traveling to multiple sites, ensuring coating applications meet stringent specifications, and documenting compliance for state transportation authorities.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate records of all inspection work performed.
• Operate testing equipment to measure coating dry‑film thickness and record field conditions.
• Inspect, observe, and document surface preparation and concrete sealing to verify contractor compliance.
• Notify contractors of any non‑conforming work and require corrective actions.
• Enter inspection data into ODOT’s CMS/SITE MANAGER system or equivalent documentation platforms.
• Complete special projects and additional duties as assigned by the Project Engineer or LPA representative.
• Travel throughout Ohio to work on diverse projects as needed.

Required profile

• ODOT prequalification is mandatory.
• Successful completion of ODOT Work Type 26 Structural Steel Painting Course.
• Successful completion of ODOT Work Type 57 Sealing of Concrete Surfaces Course.
• One of the following certifications: NACE Certified Coatings Inspector Level 1, SSPC/AMPP Protective Coatings Inspector Level 1, or SSPC/AMPP Bridge Coating Inspector Level 1.

Required skills

• Proficiency with coating thickness measurement tools.
• Ability to perform detailed data entry into ODOT’s CMS/SITE MANAGER system.
• Knowledge of ODOT Work Type 26 and 57 course requirements.
• Certification as NACE Level 1 Coatings Inspector or equivalent SSPC/AMPP Level 1.
