Medical Director, Transplant Nephrology

About the role

The Lehigh Valley Health Network is seeking an experienced, board‑certified Transplant Nephrologist to serve as Medical Director of its Kidney Transplant Program at the Cedar Crest campus in Allentown, PA. This high‑visibility leadership position will shape the future of a rapidly growing program that performs over 150 kidney transplants annually.

Key responsibilities

• Manage transplant patients throughout evaluation, donor assessment, wait‑list management, post‑transplant care, and coordination of clinical operations.
• Supervise physicians, advanced practitioners, and nursing staff on the inpatient kidney transplant service.
• Oversee review of transplant‑related adverse events, ensure compliance with UNOS, CMS, and other regulatory guidelines.
• Collaborate with surgical leadership on finances, budgeting, staffing, and strategic planning.
• Lead growth initiatives to increase referrals and transplant activity, and participate in outreach education and community engagement.

Required profile

• Current PA state medical license (or ability to obtain one) and board certification in transplant nephrology.
• Strong communication, leadership, and independent decision‑making skills.
• Post‑fellowship experience in clinical transplant nephrology; meeting UNOS criteria as primary physician preferred.
