Mechanical Engineering Intern

About the role

Join FHP Manufacturing’s engineering team in Fort Lauderdale as a Mechanical Engineering Intern. You will support the development and testing of geothermal and water‑source heat pump products, gaining hands‑on experience in HVAC engineering.

Key responsibilities

• Assist engineers in creating test plans for unit rating, qualification, and reliability testing.
• Support execution of testing activities and document results.
• Help with product design tasks, including drafting detail and assembly drawings.
• Identify and propose solutions for design issues that affect production or operation.
• Perform basic mechanical design calculations and prototype modifications.

Required profile

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical preferred).
• Minimum GPA of 3.0.
• Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals and good communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Required skills

• Basic knowledge of CAD software (NX, Pro‑E, AutoCAD or similar).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Hands‑on fabrication skills such as cutting, forming, brazing, and welding.
• Ability to perform mechanical design calculations.
