Instructional Coach – TOSA (Coaching for Excellence)

About the role

The Instructional Coach – TOSA will work within PS 208 Riverside Academy to elevate teaching practice and improve student achievement. As a key member of the school’s Teacher Learning System, the coach will model high-quality instruction and guide teachers through sustained, job-embedded learning cycles.

Key responsibilities

• Model standards-aligned, high-quality instruction consistent with the district’s vision.
• Co-plan and co-teach lessons with classroom teachers to strengthen instructional design and delivery.
• Implement structured coaching cycles that include goal-setting, planning, rehearsal, classroom enactment, reflection, and next steps.
• Facilitate collaborative teacher learning structures such as content deepening, student work analysis, video review, lesson studies, and examination of instructional rigor.
• Support teachers in designing and enacting rigorous, equitable instruction through shared practice and rehearsal.
• Assist teams in translating curriculum and standards into cognitively demanding lessons.

Required profile

• Master’s degree.
• New York State certification in Math, Science, English Language Arts, Social Studies, Reading/Literacy, or Elementary Education.
• At least five years remaining in professional career.
• Demonstrated instructional expertise and experience in coaching or mentoring teachers.
