In-House Translator

About the role

Political Asylum Lawyers seeks a detail‑oriented translator to convert client evidence and communications for USCIS and Immigration Court filings. The role supports attorneys, paralegals and legal assistants in delivering accurate, certified translations.

Key responsibilities

• Translate client documents (IDs, certificates, police reports, medical records, news articles, witness letters) into English for USCIS and Immigration Court filings.
• Prepare certified translations with a certificate of translation meeting USCIS and EOIR requirements.
• Translate client declarations and firm communications from English into Spanish and, if possible, French.
• Follow PAL’s translation standards, manage a queue of tasks in Asana, prioritize by filing deadline, and flag at‑risk items.
• Quality‑check your own work before delivery and collaborate closely with legal team members.

Required profile

• Native or near‑native fluency in English and Spanish (C2 level), written and spoken.
• At least 2 years of professional translation experience, preferably with legal, official or immigration documents.
• Detail‑oriented, accountable, highly organized and a strong team player.
• Reliable internet connection and availability during U.S. Central Time business hours.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Asana task management.
• Proficiency with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive).
• Excellent writing, grammar and formatting in both English and Spanish.
